Nurse education, strategy & mentorship · Charllie Bongolan, MSN, RN, FNP-BC
You don't need to become a better nurse.
You need a better strategy.
Off the Unit is where nurses learn the things there’s never enough time to teach on the unit, then take that back to their practice. Nursing school taught you how to care for patients. This is everything it never taught you about handling everything a twelve-hour shift throws at you.
- 30-minute 1:1 sessions over Google Meet, with flexible scheduling designed to work around your shifts

Calm isn't luck. It's strategy.
Educate. Empower. Elevate.
Made for
- New grad nurses
- Nurses off orientation
- Nurses changing specialties
- Nurses who feel overwhelmed on shift
What Are You Struggling With on Shift?
Time Management
I'm constantly behind.
Morning Med Pass
My entire shift falls apart before noon.
Confidence
I know more than I think I do, but I second-guess everything.
Communication
Calling providers, giving report, speaking up and asking questions stresses me out.
Delegation + Boundaries
I'm doing everything myself.
Organization
I need an actual system for managing my shift.
You don't need another generic nursing checklist. Let's figure out what's actually slowing you down.
The whole idea
Calm is not something a nurse either has or doesn't.
It gets built. Through strategy, anticipation, organization, and a clinical workflow that still holds when the day falls apart at 14:00.
Strategy
A repeatable plan for the shift, decided before it starts instead of invented mid-crisis.
Anticipation
Thinking two hours ahead so you are ready for what is coming instead of reacting to what already happened.
Organization
A system for tracking five to seven patients that does not live in your head or on a napkin.
Workflow
Knowing what must be done now, what can safely wait, and how to tell the difference under pressure.

- Stay organized without rewriting the entire chart
- Delegate with confidence

Why nurses work with me
I've worked the shifts you're working now.
I know what it feels like to wonder if you'll ever feel confident. You will.
I'm Charllie, a registered nurse and nurse practitioner with more than a decade of bedside experience across transplant, telemetry and PCU, float nursing, charge nurse shifts, and precepting new nurses.
I thought being a good nurse meant always being busy, until I realized the best nurses on my unit didn't look rushed at all. They weren't faster than me. They had a system.
I created Off the Unit for the conversations we never had enough time to have on the unit. It is that system, written down. Real bedside experience turned into strategies you can use on your next shift.

What the Clancy Trial Is Really Asking Us
Turns out the flowsheet has a blind spot, and it's us.

No One Tells You How Hard It Is to Be Soft
I was taught how to be independent but not how to be held.
Before you book
The questions nurses actually ask.
I’m not a new grad. Is this still for me?
Yes. Changing specialties, returning after a break, or moving to a heavier assignment opens the same gap. Plenty of experienced nurses book these.
Is this clinical supervision or nursing advice?
No. Strategy Sessions are professional mentorship and education. We can work through clinical situations and questions, but our conversations do not replace your own clinical judgment, facility policies and procedures, scope of practice, or appropriate chain of command.
My schedule is chaos. How does scheduling work?
You book each session yourself, around your own shifts. Nothing is fixed to a weekly slot.
Do I need the workbook to book a session?
No. They work well together and neither requires the other.
Is anything I say confidential?
Yes. Strategy Sessions are private and are not affiliated with or reported back to your employer or manager. Please do not share patient-identifying information during sessions.
What if three months isn’t enough?
Three months gives us enough time to identify patterns, build strategies, and see what actually works on your shifts. If you’d like continued support after that, we can talk about the best next step together.
Your next shift is coming
Let's build your strategy. Together.
You don't have to become a different nurse. You need a plan for the twelve hours with someone who has already worked them.
Progress matters more than perfection.
